Cara Boardman is excited to teach ballet and modern technique to emerging dancers in Louisville. She grew up in North Alabama and began her dance journey at the age of 5. Coming up through the North Alabama dance scene provided Cara opportunities in jazz, hip hop, and lyrical styles, but something was missing. The technique wasn't there! From 2002 to 2007, Cara found her dance home at the Huntsville Ballet Company where she ate, lived, and breathed ballet.
During her time at HBC, Cara attended SERBA (Southeastern Regional Ballet Association) on scholarship and earned awards in prestigious choreography and modern dance performance. She performed roles in the Nutcracker, La Bayadere, Giselle, and Swan Lake and enjoyed expanding her horizons to modern dance, as well.
She attended the University of Alabama and chose to major in Dance and Modern Technique (along with English) where she studied with the former Alvin Ailey performer, Cornelius Carter. Following her college career, Cara became a high school teacher and taught in Chicago, then Seattle before landing in Kentucky.
Cara now dances in Louisville any opportunity she can get. In 2017, Cara performed with Rush Trowel and Faith Works Studios in The Soul of Christmas. Currently, she is the Associate Director of Training & Development at Wiley Education Services and enjoys community engagement, cooking, movies, and her two cat children.
